Thousands Flock to The Centre to Welcome George Sampson

Thousands of people from around West Lothian flocked to The Centre, Livingston last night (Thursday 6th November) to watch Britain’s Got Talent winner for 2008, George Sampson, switch on this year’s Christmas lights.

 

Over 10,000 people turned up in their droves to watch the young dance star re-enact his winning performance, followed by a spectacular fireworks display which had crowds completely captivated.
Breakdancing sensation, George, kicked off the festive celebrations by performing to a host of songs, showing off his famous moves and energetic dance routines on the Forth One stage, where DJs Boogie and Arlene hosted their own Livingston’s Got Talent Competition with shoppers winning a variety of prizes.

Santa also made a special appearance introducing his new giant interactive walkthrough Christmas Pudding display inside Elements Square. Specially designed for The Centre, the pudding has a sensory area which, once activated, fills the air with scents of Christmas. The display also features several pop up characters.

Jennifer Bruce, marketing manager at The Centre said: “We were thrilled to welcome TV star George Sampson to The Centre - his impressive dance moves were spectacular and crowds of all ages were in awe of his performance.

“Forth One entertained the crowd throughout the evening and certainly got everyone into the festive mood.

“Our Christmas celebration was truly wonderful and has set us up for a magical festive season for 2008.”

Further entertainment took place throughout The Centre including face painters, magicians, balloon modellers and performers from local youth theatre, Firefly Arts, who brought some traditional festive fun to the mall with a variety of pantomime sketches.
