Golfing enthusiasts had the chance to show off their skills and win a share of £100,000 at Livingston’s first major golfing event, the Livingston Masters at Almondvale Shopping Centre.

The event, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, took place between Sunday 5th and Friday 10th August with a potential share of £20,000 each offered up to five lucky finalists on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th. The Livingston Masters putting competition consisted of a tricky 60ft putt  within the mall, with the cash prize available for finalists who shot a hole in one.

All was not lost for those who missed as each of the five contestants received £100 worth of shopping vouchers for taking part.

In addition, budding Tiger Woods grabbed the opportunity to brush up on their golf skills with free tuition provided throughout the weekend of the 11th and 12th August by golf professionals Paul Malone from Braid Hills Golf Centre and Andy Marshall of Houston Golf Range, Uphall.

Almondvale Shopping Centre marketing manager, Jennifer Bruce, said: "This was a fantastic event for all involved both young and old. Although we didn't get a £20,000 winner, a great deal of fun was had in trying and kids from all over West Lothian enjoyed expert golf tuition from the professionals.

"This event was the fifth in a series of events taking place at Almondvale Shopping Centre throughout the year, giving customers great entertainment value from their shopping experience. All donations collected go directly to Marie Curie Cancer Care, who provide nursing, help and care free of charge to help ease the lives of sufferers across the UK."
