Love January - Look Great, Feel Great Event
Date of Event: 21/01/2008 - 27/01/2008
Shoppers turned up in their droves at Almondvale Shopping Centre’s Love January event at the weekend (Sat 26th and Sun 27th Jan) to get a new look to kick start the New Year as well as raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. People benefited from receiving everything from free manicures and hairstyling techniques to kick boxing demonstrations and fashion tips.
This was the tenth event to be held at Almondvale Shopping Centre in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Although the event was free, Livingston shoppers donated generously to the charity which provides high quality nursing to patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses.
Clyde 1 DJ Adrian Coll hosted the two-day event, which also gave shoppers the opportunity to win back money they spent on Christmas gifts. This included a spectacular £20,000 jackpot prize in the Roll-the-Dice game as well as the Almondvale Treasure Hunt, which saw shoppers hunting high and low around the mall for a chance to win a share of £2,000 in centre gift vouchers.
Jennifer Bruce, marketing manager at Almondvale Shopping Centre, said: “Our Love January event was a huge success and we would like to thank all of our customers that donated towards the centre’s chosen charity. It was also great for us to be able to give something back to our loyal customers.”
Love January provided a whole host of health, beauty, fashion and fitness advice for 2008. Top Scottish stylist Julie Hannah recommended what to wear with this year’s must have styles and trends, and newly opened salon, Hush demonstrated how to keep your hair in tip-top condition.
New nail and beauty salon, Images, provided manicures and hand treatments and staff from The Body Shop treated shoppers to product samples and advice on how to perfect your daily beauty and skin care regime.
Proprietor of new hair salon, Hush, John Doolan, said: “As we are new to the centre, it was great for us to raise local awareness of our business and it was also an excellent team building exercise for all of our staff as well retailers. Many people took advantage of the chance to get advice and treat themselves to a new hair style.”
Representatives from Bannatyne’s Health Club in Livingston attended the event along with their champion kick boxer Stuart Hutson. Activities on offer included mini MOT workshops which measured blood-pressure and BMI, as well as an array of diet information, samples of protein drinks and kick boxing demonstrations.
Shoppers were also able to sample healthy smoothies from the newly opened juice bar, JuiceWorx, ensuring that you can get your five-a-day the easy way.
