Almondvale Reaches Final of Golden Service Awards

Date: 13 Nov 2007

Staff at Livingston’s Almondvale Shopping Centre recently attended the annual Golden Service Awards in London hosted by TV personality Anthea Turner after beating off tough competition to be shortlisted for the Best Cleaned Shopping Centre Award.

The popular shopping destination situated in the heart of Livingston was in the running for the prestigious cleaning award in recognition of the high standard of work undertaken by contract cleaners, Insitu Services. Staff were delighted to make it to the final shortlist but on this occasion did not win the award.

The Golden Service Award, known as ‘The Oscars’ of the cleaning and support service industry was established by Kimberly-Clark professionals and is now in its 17th year.

Anne McGroarty, Operations Manager at Almondvale Shopping Centre commented: “We were delighted to be in the running for this noted industry award, due to the hard work and attention to detail shown by our contract cleaners, Insitu Services. Their work is fundamental in upholding our reputation as an inviting, family-friendly shopping centre.

“We had a great time at the awards ceremony and will certainly be entering the competition again next year.”

Chris Reay from Insitu Services commented: “The Golden Service Award is well respected within the industry and a large number of individuals and companies enter this every year. Although on this occasion we did not win the award we felt a great sense of achievement in getting this far.”

Independent judges travelled the length and breadth of the British Isles and Ireland to inspect all premises shortlisted. The official awards ceremony took place on the 2nd November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel at Hyde Park, London.

Almondvale Shopping Centre opened in 1976 and is Livingston’s leading shopping outlet. The centre is currently undergoing a major expansion programme – the new £130m investment will transform the heart of Livingston, reinforcing its position as one of Scotland’s top shopping destinations.
